Effortless Romance at Beltane Ranch: A Summer Wedding in Sonoma
When Allison Hoffmann and Alex Huckstepp first reached out to us at L. Relyea Events, they had a beautifully simple vision: a wedding that felt effortless, romantic, and—above all—fun. As a boutique wedding planning studio rooted in relaxed luxury, we knew we could bring their dream day to life with intention, ease, and plenty of personal touches.
We began their wedding journey with a day of venue scouting in Sonoma, exploring some of our favorite wine country locations. After visiting several stunning properties, we had time for one final stop—a spot I had a feeling they’d love. The moment we arrived at Beltane Ranch in Glen Ellen, we all felt it: this was the one. The breathtaking views, the historic charm, the warm California light—it had everything we needed to create something unforgettable.
Why Beltane Ranch Was the Perfect Venue
Beltane Ranch offers everything we adore in a Sonoma wedding venue: sweeping vineyard views, a picturesque on-site inn, and that quintessential laid-back California energy that feels both timeless and elevated. It’s a place that invites you to slow down, savor the moment, and celebrate in a way that feels authentic.
With a setting this naturally stunning, our job was to bring in personal details that made the day feel like Allison and Alex—easygoing, stylish, and full of heart.
A Love Story You’ll Want to Toast To
These two have the kind of story you’d expect from a rom-com: pizza, beer, and IKEA furniture assembly were the backdrop to their very first meeting. Fast forward nearly a decade, and they were ready to tie the knot surrounded by their closest family and friends.
From the start, they told us: “We want this day to feel easy and fun.” So that’s exactly what we delivered—from vintage truck welcome cocktails to a lively oyster bar from Hog Island Oysters during cocktail hour. Every detail was infused with their personalities and love for good food, good people, and good times.
A Ceremony with Heart and Heritage
The ceremony took place under a century-old oak tree, one of Beltane Ranch’s most iconic features. We kept the design clean and organic, letting the landscape shine. Soft white draping added a subtle sense of elegance, and whimsical paper flower garlands lined the aisle for a touch of playfulness.
Allison’s stepfather officiated the ceremony, sharing heartfelt stories that had the entire crowd laughing—and crying. It was the kind of moment we love most: deeply personal, emotionally rich, and truly one-of-a-kind.
Relaxed Fashion Meets California Summer
Allison looked absolutely radiant in her Alexandra Grecco gown—a 100% silk crepe design that moved effortlessly in the summer breeze. She completed her look with diamond cuff earrings, a delicate lace veil, and yes, Valentino heels—because it is a wedding, after all.
Alex embraced the all-white theme in his own way, wearing a crisp Ralph Lauren linen jacket, paired with khakis for that perfect California summer look. Their wedding party followed suit in light, breathable fabrics—ideal for a warm Sonoma evening and just right for dancing under the stars.
From Ceremony to Celebration: A Reception to Remember
After their heartfelt "I dos," guests were greeted with seasonal cocktails and oysters under the trees. We kept the cocktail hour light, festive, and social—with umbrellas for shade and little nooks for mingling throughout the garden.
Dinner was an al fresco affair beneath twinkle lights and the branches of those same majestic oaks. We designed the reception with soft, gauzy linens, low floral arrangements in neutral tones, and long tables that encouraged connection and conversation.
The menu, curated to reflect the couple’s love for comforting yet elevated cuisine, featured:
Roasted bistro filet
Pan-seared salmon
Truffled white cheddar orecchiette
Instead of a traditional cake, guests enjoyed a pie and ice cream bar, featuring flavors like s’mores and Mississippi mud pie—a playful, nostalgic end to the meal that everyone adored.
A Night of Dancing and Connection
As the sun set over the vineyards, the dance floor came alive thanks to a high-energy live band. One of the most touching moments? A toast from Allison’s brother that incorporated a German family tradition of toasting before meals. It brought a sense of unity and joy that carried through the rest of the night.
From the first look to the final dance, Allison and Alex’s wedding at Beltane Ranch was a perfect example of what we at L. Relyea Events love most: creating spaces where people can connect, celebrate, and truly feel the love.
It was a joy to plan, and we’re proud to share that this celebration has been featured on Brides—a testament to the beauty and intentionality of the day.
